YOUNG RISOTTO CHEF OF THE YEAR COMPETITION
TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The Promoter
The promoter is: Gallo UK Ltd, 3-4 Park Court Riccall Road, Escrick, York North Yorkshire LS23 6LP

2. The competition
2.2 Win an all-expenses paid trip for a 4 day stage in a Michelin-starred restaurant by sending in your recipe and an image of your dish.
2.3 Regional Finalists will be selected from the competition entries to participate in a Grand Final in early June 2026 in London (Cook Off) where the winner will be named the Riso Gallo Young Risotto Chef of the Year and will win the opportunity to work with a Michelin starred chef.

3. How to enter
3.1 Entires will be accepted between set dates, 01.12.25 – 31.03.26
3.2 All competition entries must be received by the Promoter at the website www.youngrisottochef.com or via email info@gallouk.com by no later than 23:59 on the Closing Date. All competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.
3.3 To enter the competition, submit your recipe and image via www.youngrisottochef.com by the Closing Date. It is perfectly acceptable to prepare your own stock on the day however should you wish to do so you can bring prepared stock with you. We are also delighted to offer wonderful Olive Oil from our friends at Filippo Berio and a selection of Cresses from Koppertcress to incorporate as required. Thank you so much to both companies for making your products available for competitor use.
3.4 No purchase necessary [and there is no charge to register for use of the website].
3.5 The Promoter will not accept:
(a) responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or
(b) proof of posting or transmission as proof of receipt of entry to the competition.
3.6 By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
3.7 The competition entries will be judged by Riso Gallo and a panel of independent judges based on your recipe and image of your dish.
3.8 The Grand Final for 2026, referred to at condition 5.1 shall be judged by a panel of independent judges.
3.9 The Promoter will send the full names of the judges to anyone who writes within one month after the Closing Date of the competition requesting details of the judges and who encloses a self-addressed envelope to the address set out in Condition 1.

4. Eligibility
4.1 The competition is only open to all residents in the UK aged between 17 and 23 years, in full time education by 31.05.26, except:
(a) employees of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies;
(b) employees of agents or suppliers of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies, who are professionally connected with the competition or its administration; or
(c) members of the immediate families or households of (a) and (b) above
4.2 In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition.
4.3 The Promoter will not accept competition entries that are:

(a) automatically generated by computer;
(b) completed by third parties or in bulk;
(c) illegible, have been altered, reconstructed, forged or tampered with;
(d) photocopies and not originals; or
(e) incomplete.

4.4 There is a limit of one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person or bulk entries will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
4.5 The Promoter reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition.

5. The prizes
5.1 Regional Finalists will be invited to attend a regional heat at a venue near to them in Spring, 2026. Two competitors from each Regional Heat will then progress to the Grand Final and become a Finalist. You must be available to attend on the appropriate date to be eligible.

Please note Regional Heat Finalists will be responsible for their own costs. Costs for the following for each Finalist will be provided.

(a) Transport to and from the finalists usual place of residence to the London venue, and
(b) accommodation (standard single bed and breakfast for a maximum of two nights).

5.2 The Finalist mus order and bring the ingredients required for their dish from the recipe entry.
5.3 If you wish to use a specific ingredient or ANY homemade product(s) you may bring your own.
5.4 The winning prize will be a trip for the winner to cook with a Michelin starred chef for three days. The (Winning Prize), includes:

(a) Return travel from an appropriate UK destination.
(b) Accommodation (standard bed and breakfast for three nights).
(c) Three meals per day whilst the winner is working.

5.5 You will be responsible for ensuring that you are available to travel and where applicable hold a valid passport, the appropriate COVID status as dictated at the time, any necessary visas and travel documents for the trip in question on the travel dates when confirmed. Dates once notified to you by the Promoter cannot be changed.
5.6 If any winner is no longer available for their prize, no alternatives will be offered and for avoidance of doubt, no compensation and/or refund will be provided.
5.7 Prizes are subject to availability. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize with a prize of equal or greater value.
5.8 The prizes are not negotiable or transferable.
5.9 Any reference to a winner in these conditions includes a Regional Finalist.

6. Winner announcement
6.1 The Regional Finalists will be announced to the media on completion of the Final cook. (Finalists Announcement Date).
6.2 The Winning Prize will be announced to the media shortly afterwards. (Announcement Date).
6.3 In either case the decision of the Promoter and the judges nominated by the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
6.4 The Promoter will contact the Regional Finalists personally as soon as practicable after the Finalists Announcement Date, using the telephone number or email address provided with the competition entry. The Promoter will not amend any contact information once the competition entry form has been submitted. The winner shall be notified in person at the time of judging the Cook Off.
6.5 The Promoter will send the name and county of the Regional Finalists to anyone who writes within one month after the Closing Date of the competition requesting details of the Regional Finalists and who encloses a self-addressed envelope to the address set out in condition 1.
6.6 The Promoter will send the name and county of the winner and to anyone who writes within one month after the date of the Cook Off requesting details of the winner and who encloses a self-addressed envelope to the address set out in condition 1.

7. Claiming the prizes
7.1 If you are selected as a Regional Finalist and Finalist, you will have 14 days from the Announcement Date to claim your place at the Cook Off by responding to an email or phone call. If you do not claim your place by this date, your claim will become invalid and a new Regional Finalist will be selected.
7.2 A Prize may not be claimed by a third party on your behalf.
7.3 The Promoter will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winners. If any winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their prize within 14 days of the Announcement Date, the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the valid entries that were received before the Closing Date.
7.4 Winners of the Winning Prize will have 7 days from the Cook Off to claim their prize.
7.5 The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up your prize.

8. Limitation of liability
Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winners or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

9. Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights
9.1 All competition entries and any accompanying material submitted to the Promoter will become the property of the Promoter on receipt and will not be returned.
9.2 By submitting your competition entry and any accompanying material, and in consideration for the opportunity to win a prize, you hereby:
(a) assign to the Promoter all your intellectual property rights (including but not limited to copyright, trade marks, design rights, trade dress, get-up and know how) with full title guarantee; and
(b) waive all moral rights,
in and to your competition entry and otherwise arising in connection with your entry to which you may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
9.3 You agree that the Promoter may, but is not required to, make your entry available on its website(s) and any other media. Where intellectual property rights cannot be assigned in accordance with clause 10.2, you hereby agree to grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the competition entry and any accompanying materials, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the competition entry and any accompanying materials for any purpose.

10. Data protection and publicity
10.1 If you are the winner of the competition, you agree that the Promoter may use your name, image and town or county of residence to announce the winner of this competition and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.
10.2 You agree to participate in any publicity required by the Promoter.
10.3 By entering the competition, you agree that any personal information provided by you with the competition entry may be held and used only by the Promoter or its agents and suppliers to administer the competition except where you have indicated otherwise.

11. General
11.1 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
11.2 The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
11.3 These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
